NEW YORK -- July 17, 2008 -- Mometasone furoate monohydrate (Nasonex) nasal spray 50 mcg QD has been approved in Japan for the treatment of allergic rhinitis in adults.

Mometasone furoate monohydrate is proven to help prevent most seasonal nasal allergy symptoms in adults and children aged 12 years and older when started 2 to 4 weeks prior to allergy season.

Side effects are generally mild and include headache, viral infection, sore throat, nosebleeds, and coughing.
