NEW YORK -- August 20, 2008 -- Calcipotriene 0.005% plus betamethasone dipropinate 0.064% (Xamiol) gel has been approved in Europe for the treatment of scalp psoriasis.

In clinical studies, the gel proved effective in the treatment of chronic psoriasis occurring in the scalp. Results showed that 8 out of 10 patients felt their disease was under control by the end of treatment.

The gel will be available in Europe later this year.
