NEW YORK -- October 6, 2008 -- Health Canada has approved lenalidomide (Revlimid) for use in combination with dexamethasone as a treatment for patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least 1 prior therapy.

The approval was based upon the safety and efficacy results of 2 large, randomised phase 3 trials; North American Trial MM-009 and International Trial MM-010, which evaluated lenalidomide plus dexamethasone in patients with multiple myeloma who had received at least 1 prior therapy.
