NEW BRIGHTON, Minn., Dec. 10, 1996 -- Rehabilicare's (Nasdaq: REHB) CTDx(TM) Electrostimulation System is targeted at early intervention of wrist problems to help control the symptoms of repetitive stress injuries (RSI) such as carpal tunnel syndrome in industry. The CTDx System includes an electrical stimulator, a patented wrist splint and unique electrodes. The CTDx System requires a physician's prescription and has gone through the Federal Food and Drug Administrative (FDA) Regulatory 510(k) process. Rehabilicare is currently marketing the CTDx System to industry and Occupational Physicians throughout the country. "The CTDx System is a non-invasive, non-narcotic way to treat RSI's of the wrist area," said David B. Kaysen, President and CEO. Kaysen went on to say, "The CTDx is intended to be used early on, when a worker first complains of wrist pain, as a way to ease the symptoms associated with RSI's." Kaysen also stated, "RSI's, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, are a real challenge for industry today and have significant associated costs. The multi-million dollar jury award on the East Coast recently given to three data entry workers is just one example of the cost associated with this problem. The cost of the CTDx System for a 6O day treatment regimen is under $600 per worker, thus offering industry a cost effective alternative to deal with this difficult problem. "Rehabilicare has recently completed a study of data entry workers using the CTDx System at the work site. This study quantifiably shows that improvement in motor nerve response is achieved when using the CTDx at work for just 30 minutes per day," Kaysen added. "Our goal is to assist industry and injured workers in dealing with wrist injuries associated with RSI in a cost-effective, non-invasive, non-narcotic way as soon as possible while allowing the worker to stay productive on the job."
