SEATTLE, WA -- January 5, 2000 -- PathoGenesis Corp. today announced that its drug Tobi(R) (tobramycin solution for inhalation) has received marketing clearance from the Ministry of Health in Israel. The drug is indicated for the management of cystic fibrosis patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infections.

"We're delighted to add Israel to our growing list of international markets," said Wilbur H. Gantz, chairman and chief executive officer of PathoGenesis. "Tobi is an important addition to the physicians' arsenal of drugs to manage serious lung infections in their cystic fibrosis patients."

In Israel, Tobi will be distributed by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. An estimated 400 people in Israel have cystic fibrosis, a serious genetic disease that primarily affects Caucasians. Tobi is designed for these patients to take at home in repeated cycles of 28 days on drug, 28 days off drug. It is inhaled twice daily and requires about 15 minutes each time.
