"Acne Therapy, Adoxa (Doxycycline), Now Available In 75 Mg Option In US"

MALVERN, PA -- June 3, 2003 -- Bioglan Pharmaceuticals Company announced that Adoxa™ (doxycycline) Tablets are now available in a 75mg tablet, adding a middle-range dosage option to Bioglan's popular 50mg and 100mg tablets currently prescribed for acne therapy. The addition of the new 75mg tablet offers dermatologists greater flexibility in prescribing a daily acne treatment regimen. All three Adoxa Tablet strengths are small, easy-to-swallow, film-coated tablets, making them ideal for patients who have trouble swallowing capsules. Adoxa Tablets are the first and only doxycycline tablets for the adjunctive treatment of severe acne. A broad-spectrum, second-generation tetracycline, Adoxa offers a small, easy-to-swallow tablet alternative to traditional doxycycline capsules. Oral antibiotics, such as Adoxa Tablets, are prescribed as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of severe acne. These medications work by suppressing the common bacteria known as P. acnes in the skin, reducing sebum production and exfoliating dead skin cells to promote new cell growth. Adoxa (doxycycline) Tablets are contraindicated in persons who have shown any sensitivity to any of the tetracyclines. The use of drugs of the tetracycline class during tooth development (last half of pregnancy, infancy, and childhood to eight years) may cause permanent discoloration of the teeth (yellow-gray-brown). Photosensitivity manifested by an exaggerated sunburn has been observed in some individuals taking tetracyclines. Treatment should be discontinued at first evidence of skin erythema. Concurrent use of tetracycline may render oral contraceptives less effective. SOURCE: Bioglan Pharmaceuticals Company
