"Long-Term Canadian Safety Data Demonstrates Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) Remains Safe, Effective: Presented at CUA"

TORONTO, ON -- June 23, 2003 -- During today's 58th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Urology Association, leading Canadian clinical researchers reported the results of a long-term safety study on Viagra (sildenafil citrate) the only oral treatment for erectile difficulties (ED). A 36-month follow-up of 225 men concluded that Viagra remains safe and effective over the long term. "As a Canadian long-term study, this is important work that demonstrates conclusively that sildenafil citrate (Viagra) was equally effective and well- tolerated across 36 months of long-term treatment," says lead researcher Dr. Alvaro Morales, Professor of Urology at Queens University. "Men reported 87 per cent satisfaction with their treatment and that also remained consistent across the full 36 months." Conducted in twenty-seven research centres across Canada, the trial also found: - No decrease in efficacy and tolerance of treatment - efficacy on erection consistent across 3 years of treatment - At month 36, 87 per cent of patients were satisfied with sildenafil citrate treatment (Viagra) The research team who led the study was funded by an unrestricted grant from Pfizer Canada.
