"Rivastigmine Treatment for Alzheimer's Disease Cuts Need for Antipsychotics: Presented at AAN" By Jill Stein MIAMI, FL -- April 12, 2005 -- Newly admitted nursing home residents who are being treated with rivastigmine for Alzheimer's disease (AD) are less likely to require antipsychotic treatment than residents who are not being treated with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, according to results announced here on April 12[th at the American Academy of Neurology 57th Annual Meeting. Siva Narayanan, MS, MHS, director of outcomes research, Beverly Enterprises, Fort Smith, Arkansas, United States, reported data on a retrospective evaluation of 1362 newly admitted residents of nursing facilities across the United States during a recent 3-year period. |
