"Aprepitant Controls Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting Better Than Ondansetron: Presented at ACOG" By Ed Susman SAN DIEGO, CA -- May 9, 2007 -- The antiemetic agent aprepitant appears to be more effective in controlling the nausea and vomiting that follow surgery than the standard treatment with ondansetron, doctors said here at the 55[th annual clinical meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). In the study, the 40 mg dose of aprepitant achieved statistically significant advantages over ondansetron in all five endpoints, reported Keith Candiotti, MD, director of research and associate professor of anaesthesiology, University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida, United States. |
