| Summary points: | A previously healthy 26-year-old presents with influenza-like symptoms that started 2 days earlier and progressive disturbance of consciousness. This case report describes the clinical examination, lumbar puncture and cerebral tomodensitometry, the approach to treatment, and outcome. The authors discuss the role of echocardiography for diagnosis and management of myocarditis, the echocardiographic differences between fulminant myocarditis and acute myocarditis, and treatments for this condition. |
