| Summary points: | A pregnant 16-year-old presents at 32 weeks' gestation to a local emergency department with a 5-day history of increasing dyspnoea, low-grade fever, nausea and vomiting. She had taken amoxicillin for 3 days based on a presumptive diagnosis of pneumonia, but without any clinical benefit. This case report describes the medical history and clinical presentation, diagnostic investigations, various complications, and outcome. The authors discuss the National Advisory Committee on Immunization recommendations for influenza vaccination in pregnancy, and review the literature on vaccination against influenza virus. |
