        news Extensive Injuries Following a 'Trip at Home': A Case Report

        Presented by:Cases Journal / Maruthesh Gowda Chikkappa, Charles Morrison, Andrew Lowe, Jay Gokhale and Ralph Antrum
        Summary points:A 52-year-old male presents to the emergency room 2 days after tripping and falling onto his right side at home. On arrival, patient complains of shortness of breath and right-side chest pain. Additional symptoms, physical examination, chest examination, chest radiograph, electrocardiography, laboratory data, computerised tomography of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis, which confirmed right-sided rib fractures and right pneumothorax, and therapy are described. The authors highlight the extent of injury a person can sustain from a simple fall and the high index of suspicion required to discover the full extent of a patient's injuries.
