        news A Patient Presenting with Symptomatic Hypomagnesemia Caused by Metformin-Induced Diarrhoea: A Case Report

        Summary points:A 57-year-old Caucasian male with diabetes presents with chronic diarrhoea; carpal and calf spasms; pain (especially in the legs); paresthesias of the lips, hands and feet; and malaise. He had been on metformin for 9 years. Medical history, physical examination, laboratory data, treatment, and follow-up are described. The authors discuss the first reported case of metformin-induced symptomatic hypomagnesaemia.
