      news Incisional Hernia as an Unusual Cause of Hepatic Encephalopathy in a 62-Year-Old Man with Cirrhosis: A Case Report

      Summary points:A 62-year-old Caucasian male with a history of decompensated liver cirrhosis secondary to hepatitis C virus infection presents with personality changes that developed 4 hours after extensive vomiting. Physical examination, laboratory tests, magnetic resonance imaging, and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy are described; images provided. The authors discuss the potential of a hernia causing a large volume of vomiting as a precipitant factor in the development of hepatic encephalopathy.
