Kaposi Sarcoma in a Patient with Giant Cell Arteritis
| Presented by: | Dermatology Online Journal / Anoop Kuttikat MB BS, Abhay Joshi MD, Ibtisam Saeed FRCPath and Kuntal Chakravarty FRCP |
| Summary points: | A 79-year-old presents with pink, painless skin nodules on the chest wall and thigh that started while the patient was participating in a double-blind trial of an anti-tumour-necrosis-factor medication for giant-cell arteritis. This case report describes the biopsy and virology screen findings and treatment outcome. The authors make a case for the risks associated with corticosteroid immunosuppression, particularly in elderly patients. |
