| Summary points: | An 80-year-old presents with facial erythaema, swelling and crusting around the lids, severe and painful generalised rash 2 weeks after undergoing routine phacoemulsification cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implant and starting topical treatment with Maxitrol (dexamethasone and neomycin) eye drops.
