        Summary points:A 65-year-old man who had undergone retropubic prostatectomy for prostate adenocarcinoma presents with sudden dyspnoea and chest pain. Physical examination, laboratory data, contrast-enhanced multi-slice computed tomography, and ultrasonography are described; images provided. The authors discuss a rare case of a patient who experienced non-catheter-related thrombosis of the internal jugular vein.
