| Summary points: | A 59-year-old Caucasian, multiparous female was hospitalised complaining of dyspnoea and abdominal distension progressing during the last 8 months. She had no significant medical and surgical history. Abdominal computed tomography (CT), abdominal ultrasound, laboratory data, tumour markers, and serial drainage are described; images provided. Six months later she was re-admitted for recurrence of symptoms. Further drainage, new sonographic approach, and new CT are described, and a giant cyst is confirmed. The authors discuss giant ovarian cysts mimicking ascites and review features of ultrasound techniques and CT that indicate giant ovarian cysts. |
