news Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Crohn's Disease: A Case Report and Review

Presented by:Internal Medicine / Hideaki Miura, Takaaki Kawaguchi, Masakazu Takazoe, Shigehiro Kitamura and Haruki Yamada
Summary points:A 52-year-old Japanese man with a 36-year history of small bowel and colonic Crohn's disease (CD) was admitted for examination of a space-occupying lesion in the liver. Medical history, chest CT, physical examination, laboratory findings, liver biopsy, and hepatic angiography are described; images provided. The authors discuss the rare diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a patient with a long history of CD, without underlying high-risk liver diseases for HCC or a history of using immunosuppressant agents.
