news Pancreatic Carcinoma Associated with Portal Vein Tumor Thrombus: Three Case Reports

Presented by:Internal Medicine / Hiroaki Yamato, Hiroshi Kawakami, Masaki Kuwatani, Keisuke Shinada, Satoshi Kondo, Kanako Kubota and Masahiro Asaka
Summary points:Here, the authors report 3 cases of resected pancreatic carcinoma associated with portal vein tumour thrombus (PVTT). In all 3 cases, preoperative images obtained using computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasonography revealed a tumour thrombus in the portal vein, which was connected to an irregular mass in the pancreas. All cases underwent surgical resection of the primary lesion and the PVTT. The pathological diagnoses of the tumours are described, and the authors also retrospectively examined other patients who underwent surgical excision with portal vein resection.
