| Summary points: | A 52-year-old man presents with an aortic regurgitant murmur and a dilated ascending aorta and associated aortic regurgitation. Medical history and aortic valve replacement are described. On the 12th postoperative day, he presents with increasing shortness of breath, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Chest x-ray, echocardiography, other complications and findings, and treatment are described. The authors discuss a case of chylopericardium after ascending aorta and aortic valve replacement, which presented as late tamponade, and discuss the various treatment options in this rare condition, which can result in serious morbidity or death. |
