        Summary points:A 15-year-old, athletic, immunocompetent male presents with a 1-day history of confusion, fever, tachypnoea, nausea, and vomiting and general malaise for the preceding week. Physical examination, laboratory tests, CT, MRI, and treatment are described. The authors discuss the multiple organ failure secondary to a sport injury-associated infection with a panton valentine leukocidin-secreting community-acquired methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus.
