| Summary points: | A 50-year-old presents with an itchy erythematopustular eruption on the neck, limbs and trunk, more prominent and confluent in the axillae and submammary folds, as well as severe malaise and hyperthermia, which began 10 days after the intake of nimesulide for a sore throat. This case report describes the diagnostic investigations, management and outcome, and includes photographs. The authors discuss the incidence of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, its histopathology, diagnostic criteria, possible pathophysiological mechanisms, and the best approach for assessment of possible drug causes. |
