| Summary points: | A 50-year-old truck driver from a small village in India presents with fever, weakness, and pallor of about 3 months' duration, 6-month history of frequent loose stools and weight loss, dry cough of 1 month's duration, haemoptysis and oral ulceration, frequent micturition, and pain in the metatarsophalangeal joints of the big toes bilaterally, along with some amount of generalized joint pain. This case report details the patient's history, laboratory and radiological findings, the diagnosis and treatment, and follow-up. The authors discuss the challenges associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cisceral leishmaniasis and HIV coinfection. |
