Utility of Follow-Up of 131I-MIBG Scintigraphy to Screen Pheochromocytoma
| Presented by: | Internal Medicine / Satoshi Watanabe, Toshio Kahara, Chikashi Seto, Akio Uchiyama, Hitoshi Abo, Kazuhide Ishikura, Ken-ichi Nakajima and Rika Usuda |
| Summary points: | A 49-year-old male presents for evaluation of a gallstone, and computed tomography reveals a heterogenous mass measuring 36 mm in diameter in the left adrenal lesions. Laboratory tests, 131I-MIBG scintigraphy, and immunohistochemistry are described; images provided. The authors discuss the need for re-examination of 131I-MIBG scintigraphy for the screening of pheochromocytoma, even if the 131I-MIBG scintigraphy does not show any abnormal uptake. |
