        Summary points:A 37-year-old man presents with chest and low back pain. Laboratory data, chromosomal analysis, x-ray images, and bone scintigraphy are described. The authors discuss their diagnosis of primary plasma cell leukaemia successfully treated with a combination therapy of syngeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation and low-dose thalidomide.
