        news Treatment of a Patient with Shock Complicating Severe Falciparum Malaria: A Case Report

        Summary points:A 55-year-old Caucasian male presents to the intensive care unit with the clinical picture of severe malaria. Two days after admission, the patient develops septic shock. The case report describes the physical examination, laboratory evaluation, chest x-ray, malaria treatment strategy, treatment response to septic shock, and treatment outcome. The authors discuss the correct treatment strategy concerning fluid resuscitation in a patient with severe malaria.
