news Giant Serous Cystadenoma Arising from an Accessory Ovary in a Morbidly Obese 11-Year-Old Girl: A Case Report

Presented by:Journal of Medical Case Reports / Steven M Sharatz, Taina A Trevino, Luis Rodriguez and Jared H West III
Summary points:A morbidly obese 11-year-old presents with two episodes of severe, nonradiating abdominal pain, left flank pain, and nausea in the previous 5 months. She also had an episode of vomiting and a decrease in urinary frequency. This case report details the results of various diagnostic investigations, as well as the laparotomy and histological findings, and includes a series of images. The authors discuss the confusion surrounding the nomenclature of ovarian ectopia and suggest refining it to characterize more precisely the various presentations of this condition.
