        Summary points:A 70-year-old female is admitted to the emergency department because of a mild stridor, a sore throat for the last 24 hours, difficulty in swallowing, and difficulty in breathing at rest. Physical examination, laboratory investigations, and computed tomography are described. The authors discuss their diagnosis of Ludwig's angina using radiographic views of the teeth and lateral views of the neck, and describe their management with cefuroxime and metronidazole.
